Make the Most of Your Profile
Here are some tips to make your profile work harder. They are all being used by women already on the site, so pick the approach that's right for you. And remember, once you've got a profile you like on the Smart Women site, you can use it elsewhere too - now that's smart!
Get the basics right
- Don't forget to get your name, business name and contact details right; check for typos.
- Your Short Description will appear at the top of your profile - make it snappy and interesting so that people will read more.
- Use an image so that people have something visual by which to remember you. A picture of yourself is good but your logo or a picture of your product will work too.
What to say about yourself
- Let people know who you are, what you do, and how you work.
- Talk about your customers. What benefits will they get from buying from you? How will they recognise when they need to buy from you?
- What makes you different and why should people buy from you (and not someone else)? Outline your USP.
- Feel free to express your personality in the way you write.
Adding a little bit of extra impact
- Use bullet points, sub-headings, or bold, italic or underlined text to emphasise important points - but remember that if you emphasise everything, you emphsise nothing.
- You can use hyperlinks within your profile to link to particular pages in your website, say, to your newsletter sign-up page, or to a video or downloads.
- Or link to other sites that explain more about your area of expertise.
- Include testimonials from satisfied customers, statistics or other information that will help persuade people to contact you.
And don't forget that you can change and update your profile at any time. If you haven't signed up to the site already, it's time to do so now.
