Wednesday 7th May sees the very first Showcase-Marketplace event for East Midlands business women. For more details visit the Showcase-Marketplace section of this site.
Channel 4 are looking for successful career women who date younger men, for an intelligent and sensitive documentary about 21st Century relationships and have asked Smart Women to help. The film will consider the rapid decline of the taboo around the ‘older woman/ younger man’ relationship dynamic. We seem to be on a cusp of a big shift in attitude where this partnership is becoming positively aspirational, helped by an increasing number of high profile celebrity relationships.
They are looking for high-achieving career women, in their mid to late thirties plus, who have chosen to have relationships with men at least ten years younger. Greater equality in the world of work means women are no longer so dependent on men for financial security and social status. For centuries men have had younger girlfriends impressed by their power and life experience. But today women have more freedom to seek the relationship that’s right for them rather than be hidebound by tradition so Channel 4 are looking for people who are forging the way here and feel strongly enough about it to talk openly.
Please call 020 8877 5601 or email sally.hewitt@prospect-uk.com. The dealine is tight so it would be great to hear from you by 3rd March if possible.

Smart Women are pleased to be supporting Childhealth Advocacy International who first approach us to help promote their launch and networking event to mark their move to Nottingham. We've met since and identified a number of ways in which Smart Women can help them with their work and we'll be looking at some interesting developments during 2008. But right now you can help in some smart but simple ways...

When women set up in business, they are often doing so whilst juggling many other responsibilities and this has an impact on such things as how long it takes them to get started and what resources they have at their disposal.
It's an area of enterprise that warrants more understanding which is why Smart Women is encouraging members to help the Small Firms Enterprise Development Initiative to put together a discussion group to explore the issues that women face.
The discussion group will take place over lunch on Tuesday 30th October at a venue in Nottingham city centre. If you'd like to take part, please contact Caroline Missing at Strategia Ltd., who are undertaking this research, on 0845 2261712 or caroline@stratagia.co.uk.
