Childhealth Advocacy International
Smart Women are supporting Nottingham-based, Childhealth Advocacy International, an international child and maternal healthcare charity which saves the lives of babies, children and pregnant women in countries where there is extreme poverty.
We are talking about some exciting initiatives to take place during 2008 but right now you can support CAI in some smart but simple ways.
Recycling - Mobile Phones and Inkjet Cartridges Phones
Boost your recycling policy and support CAI. It's a win-win - why wouldn't you? Mark your items, or mention 'Smart Women' and CAI can keep a tally of how much we are collectively helping them. Later on, we hope to introduce a 'recyclometer' so we can see how much we're helping, and maybe set ourselves a challenge or two.
Single Mobile Phones:
Send one mobile phone in a suitable envelope/package to:

(CAI - Smart Women)
1 phone is usually enough to pay for a surgical cannula to treat a sick child.
10 or More Mobile Phones:
If your business or a group of friends can collect 10 or more old mobiles, call 0800 083 2103 to arrange a free collection from one point.
Just 35 phones can train a Ugandan children's health worker in essential life-saving techniques.
Inkjet Cartridges:
Most types of inkjet cartridge can be accepted for recycling (sadly, not Epson).
Call CAI on 0115 950 6662 for postage bags and use when you have four or more cartridges. Or, for 20 or more cartridges, ask for a free courier collection.
