Often
inspired by nature or the raw glass, Sue uses or combines re-cycled
bottles, charity shop treasures or art glass, metal inclusions and
wirework to create dramatic, original, one off pieces of jewellery and homeware. Recent commissions include jewellery and cuff
links for weddings, civil and naming ceremonies and school proms.
Sue
turns celebration memories into
jewellery, using a customer’s champagne bottle to make commemorative
jewellery. She incorporates locks of
hair to make secret invisible lockets for lovers exchanging vows and
children
to remember their parents. She can
reincarnate broken glass or metal treasures in stunning new jewellery
designs. In response to men's desire to show a bit of personality in
formal dress, her cufflinks have become ever more extravagant.
In 2006 Sue resigned from a lengthy career in public service to pursue her passion for jewellery making. She has not looked back, winning the Paul Smith Spirit Enterprise Award for Design and Creativity 2007.
